My city has no dawn,
Playing pawn in a game of chess
My side queen, rook, knight-less.
We offer draw, we see the line, refuse to resign.

Defiance has it’s worth,
Futile resistance its future rewards;
It’s a communion, see, this is our body,
Tasteless, we sacrifice it to you for your investment.

The city’s too many dimensions
To be reduced to such a simple game,
Yet line the pieces up at least,
See our skyline, and remember the game we played.
